Exit: Agilent Technologies acquires the medical technology company Biocare Medical

As part of a transaction valued at $950 million, Agilent Technologies ($6.94 billion of revenue in 2023, California / USA), a company that provides equipment, technologies, and services to laboratories active in the fields of pharmacology, research, energy, environment, diagnostics, and food, acquires Biocare Medical (California / USA), a medical technology company that develops automated immunohistochemistry instruments used in extemporaneous immunohistochemistry (IHC) laboratory tests. The historical investors of Biocare Medical, Excellere Partners and GHO Capital Partners, have sold their entire stake after supporting the company’s growth. This acquisition will allow Agilent Technologies to complete its portfolio of solutions for anatomical pathology, strengthen its capabilities in oncological diagnostics, and accelerate the development of new integrated solutions for biomedical research and clinical laboratories worldwide (Excellere Partners, press release)

Acquisition: The company specializing in artificial intelligence technologies, Advanced Machine Intelligence (AMI Labs), raises €890 million

Advanced Machine Intelligence (AMI Labs) (Île-de-France / FRA), a company that develops artificial intelligence systems capable of processing and interpreting data from real sensors for industrial applications, automation, wearable devices, robotics, and healthcare, by designing AI architectures capable of learning abstract representations from complex and continuous data, thus enabling systems to predict and plan actions within defined safety parameters, raises €890 million in a seed funding round jointly led by Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, Hiro Capital, HV Capital, and Bezos Expeditions, with the support of a group of long-term international investors and strategic partners, including Toyota Ventures, New Legacy Ventures, Temasek, SBVA, NVIDIA, Mark Cuban, the Mulliez Family Association, the Marcel Dassault Industrial Group, Sea, and Alpha Intelligence Capital. Other leading investors also participated in the operation, including Eric Schmidt, Aglaé Lab, ZEBOX Ventures, Artémis, Xavier Niel, Publicis Groupe, Samsung, Bpifrance Digital Venture, Jim Breyer, Tim and Rosemary Berners-Lee, as well as Mark Leslie.
